If you want to know your identity, Colossians 3:3 reveals that “Your real life is hidden with Christ in God” (NLT). To know who you are, know Jesus! In this discipleship journey we will explore who Christ is to us, in us, and through us using the framework of John 15 in which Jesus tells us to remain in him, promising that his Spirit will remain in us. As disciples of Jesus, we will focus on who he is according to scripture and learn how his Spirit leads us so that “In this world we are like Jesus” (1 John 4:17, NIV).
Jesus declared that the world would know we’re his disciples by our love for each other. As we focus on who Jesus is to us relationally, we will encounter the transformational love of God that enables us to love others as Christ has loved us.
Jesus said, “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock” (Matthew 7:24, NLT). We will begin building our identity on the solid rock of Christ as we gather puzzle pieces scattered throughout scripture that reveal different facets of Jesus’ identity. As you put together twelve identity puzzle pieces to build your identity in Christ, you will see a fuller picture of how the Holy Spirit makes us a new creation.
